If the guillotines won't save us, maybe the 2nd Amendment will. Here's to Luigi, our working class hero. Tom

There's been some argument over whether Luigi qualifies as "working class" or not, as he comes from a rich family, but I think he has the spirit of a worker. We need to all become Luigis without necessarily becoming gun carriers. We need his boldness of spirit most of all. Can you imagine 300 million bold protesters taking on the elites?

The way out is in. The delusioal spin in a cultural construct of greed and anger, blinded intentionally to the vast majority of reality. Pain is unavoidable, suffering a choice. When enough is not enough, and gratitude absent, this is proof that your psyche has been wound up in the aforementioned vortex. Yes, misery does love company, but the best of humanity points us towards, not away from reality. Command and control begins with mastering ones own system. It dont come easy, quickly, or painlessly. There has always been a way. There will always be a way.

Hi Cindy

The meme of the Musk/ Luigi analogy is absolutely PRICELESS! I want that on a bumper sticker!

We never wanted to be rich either. We just wanted to be able to pay our bills and have maybe a bit left if possible. Here are a couple of hints to help people get by: purchase your groceries at Aldi if you have one. Top notch quality; unbeatable prices.

And I buy my clothes and shoes from TEMU , which many will turn up their noses at, saying it’s “cheap Chinese stuff.”

Yeah, it’s Chinese. And it’s also excellent quality. Where else can you buy a good-looking T or tank top for $5? Or a great pair of jeans for $11? I’m shopping TEMU for LIFE. Free shipping too. You’re buying directly from the manufacturer; no middleman.

Cindy, WHY do people feel the need to be uber-wealthy? WTF are they gonna do with all their money…take it to their graves? Leave it to their kids who will emerge as spoiled and privileged?

While as you know, I’m not a believer in the Bible, there is one verse I recall and agree with: It’s harder for a rich man to get to heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle. Or something like that.

Is it going to be possible to get the free shipping from Temu once all these tariffs are put on top of Chinese manufactured goods? I hope so. We buy clothes and household goods from local charity shops for the most part, so we've gotten away from the capitalist "Keeping up with the Joneses" game. (Mostly I want the Joneses to leave me tf alone and stop acting like snobs. They're embarrassing themselves.)

I think the need to hoard wealth/material possessions is definitely a sign of insecurity and fear. People are afraid they'll be without necessary things such as shelter, clothing, or will go hungry, etc. The billionaires are just mentally ill with these insecurities and fears a billion times over. They're to be pitied, really, which is why I think the billionaires need some "teachable moments" inside of a prison cell where they can learn how to get along with others in their cell block.

I heard one interpretation of what it means to "be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle." "The needle" was a name for a gate into Jerusalem's market, and the camels loaded full of products to sell in the marketplace there could not get through this gate unless their loads were unpacked first and the goods distributed. See the picture? You gotta get rid of all the material possessions FIRST before you can experience "heaven" which is really life on earth where everyone has what they need to survive and no one is ever in want.

(It's great to study Christian Liberation theology--so much radical socialism in Jesus's parables and sayings. You can see why once the church became institutionalized around 300 AD under the Roman Empire why the church leaders then rewrote the meaning of those sayings and parables so people would become good little citizens of the empire instead of RADICALS that believe in equality. Jesus was never one to get along with the corrupt officials of the empire. It's why they had to kill him. It's why the empire today still puts targets on the backs of those who stand up against evil and corruption.)

Jesus was a very cool dude and a great teacher. Yes, I don’t believe he was divine, but I certainly believed he walked the earth and did much good.

Cindy, that’s also how I understood the quote about the camel passing through the eye of the needle.

As for TEMU, I kind of expect to see some price increases there. We’ll see..

I read that some corporation cloned long extinct dire wolves. Why can't we "clone" Luigi Mangione instead? We definitely need more bold leadership of the working class. It doesn't have to be a politician either. We need millions of organizers and activists united against the selfish, capitalist, imperialist, racist system.

It would be nice to have a million bold leaders to help organize the downtrodden, but these brave persons won't appear just out of nowhere. We're going to have to teach ourselves to become our own leaders. It's tough, but it's the only way. (And you're right--they probably shouldn't be a politician, especially one who takes money from AIPAC and other lobbyists. Dual loyalties there!)

I guess a lot of people really do believe that nonsense--I never did, and never wanted to get rich. Never really had trouble getting by, because I was born in '55--it's harder for young people today; and because I'm white; and because I was never truly unlucky, like having a medical emergency. Now, I am daily filled with rage, reading the news, but not because of how it affects me--I live in the country, in a house my husband and I built, powered by an off-grid system, and grow half our food ( I give away a couple dozen eggs a week). And this is my advice to anyone who isn't in love with city life-- find a place in the country where you can grow some of your own food, develop at least one salable skill that can't be done by robots or AI (plumbing, therapeutic massage), figure out how to control your own water supply and ideally electricity--theykey is to realize you don't HAVE to live like an American (wastefully). And you don't have to feel guilty about what the US government does--ordinary people have no voice in it. The US army is not "our" army.

You are very blessed indeed, Mary, not to have any health issues and the ability to own land and grow crops on it. I worry about the younger generations who will never have the same opportunities to grow their own food and live in a house they built themselves if we don't take out the corrupt system now that prevents them from living fulfilled lives. We don't have to feel "guilty" but we should feel angry that we're denying future generations from having a decent ecology and the chance to live in peace. It's good to scream at the sky, but it's better to march in sync with millions of others to build the world that works for everyone, not just the moneyed few.

I think of a comment by Dmitri Orlov: "No government will enforce the rights of absentee landowners after a collapse." I will also mention that West Virginia, where I live, still has probably the cheapest land in the country; that if you don't live in town you are unlikely to be bothered about building codes here. And that an option is to join a community--you can search the directory at the Intentional Communities website, ic.org--and that we used saved money to build the house but this is a land trust so we didn't have to pay for the land, on which we have a lifetime lease. And that our small community is looking to fill two leaseholds. If potentially interested, find us on that website under Hickory Ridge.

If you're being drafted--then you'd better be ready to protest and strike. I wrote about this situation a few weeks back. We have to be prepared to help our young people from being drafted into the army. We can start now by helping them write their C.O. story and gather evidence. Here's the link that can help those who don't want to be drawn into the Army:

Quaker House provides counseling and support to service members who are questioning their role in the military; educates them, their families, and the public about military issues; and advocates for a more peaceful world. https://quakerhouse.org/
