Has there ever been a truth? It’s a democracy, what we call truth is what the lobbyist has purchased utilizing genocide and racism to keep consumers happy. Then the rest of the state’s apparatus gets to construct the truth such as the story of Fallujah, the highland Maya in the 80s, or the low intensity genocide since the partition of Palestine. Baldwin writes in 1980, days before the November election, “The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.” Arendt distinguishes between the subjective values based determination of truth and the common sense understanding of morality that gives meaning to everyday events.

Is it a "democracy" if "truth" is purchased by the highest bidder? Technically, that's more of an oligarchy or a plutocracy, isn't it? So, if our governmental systems are based on "lies" (that is, not what they advertise themselves to be in the West), what is the "universal truth" of our situation? It's probably nothing these rich, mostly white males in power say is truth. It's what the people, the 99% claim to be true--we don't agree with endless wars and genocide.

It’s Citizens United that elects the government for the lobbyist and it’s the defacto democracy for which we make war from Syria to Ukraine including through our proxies like Israel and the UAE. Oligarchy may be a better word but it’s not what genocide Joe means when he says he’s saving democracy or is condemning the election in Venezuela. Democracy as genocide with a racist backbone is the only version that has the full backing of the United States lethality from Iraq to Guatemala.

The surest sign of a lie is when the liar shuts down anyone who contradicts him/her. As Nils Melzer wrote in The Trial of Julian Assange: “The problem really is not that we do not know the truth but that we do not want to know it.”

Sometimes truth can be scary and hard to take, but we've got to know it. Living in denial is to give up all control of your own destiny. We gotta resist that urge not to want to know it.

The truth hurts... those in power who're complicit in genocide.

Truth should "hurt" those who are immoral and complicit in genocide. It should hurt enough to make them stop. If it doesn't, we'll have to apply more "truth" to them until it does shut the genocide down.

You're welcome. We can't let the corrupt status quo silence us. We know we have the truth on our side. Genocide is wrong. It must be stopped.

Thank you Mr. Matthews. About 4 years ago l tore my house apart looking for my old, dog-eared copy of Orwell's novel 1984. I read it in the mid-70's then again in 1984. In the end, l bought a new copy and read it for a 3rd time and my husband read it for the first time.

Big Brother and the new Ministry of Truth seems determined to turn us all into little Winstons. When l saw that the WEF's 2024 conference theme was "Rebuilding Trust" l threw up in my mouth.

You're welcome. I also read Orwell's 1984 in that same year... And I could see exactly what he saw developing at the end of WWII. Forty years later and we're probably in a worse mess than even Orwell imagined! Ignorance is NOT strength--we must be strong and keep proclaiming the truth until we bring about a just and moral world for all of us.

We in the West often forget that our ancestors fought hard for some semblance of free speech. We grow lazy and complacent, thinking it'll never be taken away from us again. But it's obvious our corrupt regimes want us to follow their false narrative about the genocide of innocents. We dare not fall asleep now!

Stay awake and watchful! Question everything from the authorities. They don't have our best interests in mind--just how to make more profits for themselves and their corporate owners.

I'm going to make a meme of your quote: "The truth isn’t a skirt length or a preferred color scheme. Truth should never go out of style." ❤️‍🔥

Thank you for your kind words, Sean. Show me where you post the quote meme so I can "borrow" it for my own use. We can't let the truth go out of style. Ever.
