I know how difficult it is for many of us to trust strangers and to come together, but if we don’t put aside our petty differences and cooperate then… Nothing will happen. Nada.

This Is How You Do It

It’s more than a song title—it’s how we’ll win this thing.

The most common reply I get whenever I post a blog or make comment on another’s blog about this topic goes like this:

“Well, since you’re so full of ideas—how the hell do we pull this off? How do we get rid of the raping-pedophile-fascist-imperialist-capitalists-in-power? Because if we can’t get rid of them, then what’s the use of pointing out how evil and corrupt they are? Learn to live with it, [insert insulting epithet here].”

It is tiring repeating myself constantly, but if that’s what it takes I’ll do it. Our planet and our children’s futures depend upon this current generation of human beings doing the right thing and getting it done.

Perhaps words alone are not enough to make an impression on some minds… Here are some photos from a recent “ICE Out!” march, an organizers’ fair, and a “No War on Iran” protest along with a brief explanation of what I’m talking about.

First off, we need to organize. This is not a dirty word. Here’s an explanation of what it means courtesy of a little pamphlet I picked up at the local NW Ohio Democratic Socialists of America chapter’s table at the fair:

Organizing is the act of building a movement through developing relationships and solid communications with the diverse members of one’s community. Examples of this include political parties, advocacy groups, and labor unions.

Organizing shouldn’t be confused with mobilizing. According to the DSA pamphlet:

Mobilizing is the act of gathering large groups of people who already support a certain goal to take specific action steps to achieve that goal. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, canvassing, protesting, and voting.

That’s what many of us are doing right now—we’re attending protests, sit-ins, and marches to demonstrate how we feel about the Gestapo—er, ICE—in our cities. We chant slogans like “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!” All very good, but it can’t stop at just that. According to the DSA:

Mobilizing is the first step for many in wanting to bring about change. However, it must not stop here. When a capitalist sees us mobilizing, they assume it will last for a week and we stop when we feel satisfied. It is when we transform to organizing that the forces of capital begin to panic.

That sums up how we do it. We change things for the better in this corrupt system by making the capitalists sweat. First we mobilize, we take part in action, but we then must become organized to keep the actions going as long as necessary if we really want to make lasting change.

Take the example of the organizations working together in Minneapolis to get rid of ICE. They are affecting change—they’ve gotten the head of the CBP fired for one thing. They’ve taught people how to look out for their immigrant neighbors and how to record and report ICE activity. That’s the beautify of being organized.

I know how difficult it is for many of us to trust strangers and to come together with others, both as individuals and as groups, but if we don’t put aside our petty differences and cooperate then… Nothing will happen. We won’t accomplish nada.

We’ll permit the corrupt and evil cannibalistic-pedophiles-in-power to continue molesting, raping, and murdering all the children and young women they could ever want to without fear of facing a judge, jury, and executioner. We’ll allow our fellow ordinary human beings to suffer horrible deprivations and injustices both at home and abroad. We’ll let the Gestapo-ICE waltz into our cities and kidnap and kill our fellow residents at will. We’ll turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the genocide of the Palestinian people being paid with our tax dollars. We’ll shrug at the sound of bombs dropping on Iran.

We’ll become just as evil, just as corrupt as those currently in power that we despise and wish to overthrow.

I’ll assume that’s not what you want to happen or else you wouldn’t be reading this blog. You want to become a part of the solution, not the problem. So, stop making excuses and join a local group or ten. Join some national groups as well. Network with and learn from each other.

Organize your actions to make them even more effective. Be ready to hit the ground when your time comes to fight against the fascist system. Minneapolis activists have given us all an excellent example of how it’s done. This is how you do it, people.

Don’t know how to get local groups together? Be creative. Throw an Organizers’ Fair. This is what these folks above are doing at a local library meeting room. Stop on by, grab some of their informative literature, and get going.

Endless wars are endless distractions from what we really should be doing—pulling the warmongers down from their high offices and replacing them with true humanitarians. So get out your cardboard and markers and make a sign and show up at a peace demo and start chatting with fellow protesters. They’ll know other people who will have similar sentiments and together you can build even larger group willing to take actions to mobilize the public and grab the attention of the powers-that-be.

This is what we’re seeing in Minneapolis and elsewhere in the world. Activists are grabbing the public’s attention and generating empathy for our fellow human beings. And the number of activists are growing—poll after poll in the US demonstrates the truth of this reality.

The vast majority of Americans want to stop the genocide in Palestine. They don’t want ICE to kidnap and kill their neighbors. They don’t want to start a war with Iran, starve Cubans, or steal oil from Venezuelans. We are making those pedophile-imperialists extremely nervous with our actions. Good.

That’s whole the purpose of our organizing and protesting and striking and boycotting corporations and businesses that cooperate with the evil, corrupt oligarchy. We want these wealthy (mostly) white males to shit their pants in fear and fall on their knees and beg us to let them live after we’ve taken the reins of power away from them.

Some billionaires are already voicing sentiments along those lines. They know enough about the French Revolution to be sweating. And we’ve recently witnessed a prime minster admit that the rich, white capitalist Western nations have been going along with the Endless Wars for far too long because the profits are so damn good. It’s time we bring all these mass murderers to justice, don’t you think?

It’s not like the puppets of the oligarchy have developed a conscience at long last—it’s that they’ve seen the writing on the wall. They know that the angry masses are going to escort them to a scaffolding with a noose or a platform with a guillotine if they don’t give a little. We can’t let up on our organized actions now that we’ve got them thinking along the correct lines; that is, putting the needs of the people before their lust for profits.

Because this is how you do it. And we’ll have to keeping “doing it” until we get things right for the majority of humankind.

So, what are you waiting for? Those human-flesh-eating-child-raping-imperialist-bastards aren’t going to budge an inch until we make them realize it’s We the People who are in control
