The Peace Tree is a brilliant idea!

Thanks! I just can't let a tree go undecorated--and sending a message of Peace on Earth at the same time is good, too. ;)

Absolutely!

Perhaps we should take down the national Christmas tree and plant a giant peace tree instead... Thousands of white doves with olive branches staring down on DC might just shame some of the politician puppets into demanding an end to arming the genocides worldwide. Worth a shot. Happy holidays all!

Let's do it! We need to plant Peace trees and not simply chop Christmas trees down year after year... But I'm not sure any of the politicos will ever feel any shame. We could let the pigeons send them a sticky message or two, though!

Hi Cindy

For those of us in northern climes, we could go one step further: when the ground thaws, plant a Peace Tree in a native species and dedicate that tree to world peace; because after all, trees are sentient beings.

I do not celebrate Christmas myself, but Merry Christmas to you and yours Cindy, and thank you for all of your great contributions to your subscribers.

PS We have many mourning doves who reside on our property. Our former governor, Jennifer Granholm, designated it the “Michigan state bird of peace”.

Happy holidays, Beth! I like that idea of planting native species and dedicating it to world peace. We recently moved a Freeman's Maple sapling from one part of our garden to another (where it should have more room to grow) and it's doing well. Definitely every state should have a "state bird of peace". I knew I should have moved a few miles north!

"We seem to be living in an era where worshiping death is glorified and seen as a good thing."

Yes. And it is highly contagious.

There's an indigenous concept that applies: "Wetiko"

Here is an amazing explanation of the Wetiko "mind virus" ... "Understanding and Conquering The Mind Parasite (Wetiko)"

I've heard of wetiko. It's definitely a thing in Western culture. We need a cure for it asap and spread it far and wide. Thanks for the link.

Hi Mark

Thank you for highlighting the Indigenous perspective.

I am currently reading a book called “Our History is the Future” by Native American historian Nick Estes. The parallels he draws between the plight of the Natives and the Palestinians is astonishing but not surprising. Highly recommend.
