You gotta wonder how many holiday parties are going to become "teaching moments" this year. The rich need to wake up to the horrors their bought off politicians bring to ordinary people just trying to survive in an open air concentration camp. #freepalestine
You've got to wonder who many holiday celebrations are going to see less attendance and/or more "friction" between the "pro-genocide faction" vs. the "end the genocide faction". If it leads to an end to the murdering of innocents, then it will be worth all the broken friendships, IMO.
In that sense, it is important for us at the very least, to be aware of what's happening, and of our collective responsibility towards stopping such atrocities and injustices, in whatever way that we can.
True! There are just too many who'd rather put their fingers in their ears and close their eyes and hum loudly, pretending that reality doesn't affect them and theirs. But it does. The fictional family in this vignette shows just how interconnected the world is. Those who profit off of genocide want it to continue and couldn't care less about the loss of human life. Those who seek peace for all humankind do not want it to continue. And yet who is the most likely to be snubbed or thrown out of the party for "causing trouble"? Not the wealthy war-lovers!
The elephant and the donkey are both colored a deathly gray in the center of the room, silently staring at each other, while the partygoers tiptoe around them towards the punch bowl...
Ah, I get it now... "Elephant" can mean a lot of things like a family member with an addiction problem but I like your idea best. It is the Ds and Rs that are causing this genocide by letting Biden furnish bombs to the IDF. We need to drag that damn elephant out of its hiding place and lock it up for good!

Thank you, Caitlin. We needed this, along with a picture of Julian Assange and other martyrs with bombs over their heads.
