Professional campaign managers are like mercenaries. Pay them enough and they'll fight for you, no matter what their personal beliefs. Daou has a wealth of experience and is rightly done with the so-called 'Democrats.' For those complaining about Dr. West, if you're waiting for the 'perfect' candidate to come along you might as well wait for unicorns and mermaids to appear. It's beyond time to get behind a decent, principled candidate like Dr. West and try to turn the nation and world away from this course to oblivion, because sure as hell voting for the duopoly yet again isn't going to change a damn thing. #CornelWest2024
Some folks just might be obsessing over a perfect candidate and wishing for unicorns and mermaids. There's simply no pleasing them. And much time and energy is wasted on these obsessions and wishes when there's important work to be done in reality. The Revolution won't start by itself!
Seriously? The so-called 'protocols' were exposed as a fake cooked up by the Tsarist secret police, the Okhrana, specifically to discredit Jews. Take your bilge elsewhere.
Your abuse is pathetic. You don't know me, and I find your hatred of other humans puerile. Yes, NATO should have been disbanded the moment the Berlin Wall came down. And BTW, I am not, nor will I ever be a Zionist. It's imperialism by another name, with a religious twist to justify the extinction of Palestinians. I am a Socialist, and proud of it. Take your shite elsewhere.
It's amazing how many people still worry incessantly about the Orange Man. Do they ever worry about inflation, paying their bills or having decent health care for their children? Wasting your mental space on a rich narcissist at the expense of your family and their needs is both sad about criminal. The DNC has a lot to answer for.
The DNC sure does have a lot to answer for. And it seems that they are transitioning from promoting "Trump Derangement Syndrome" to "Peter Daou Derangment Syndrome". That's why seeing clearly and not obsessing over people or details that only hurt the best candidate in opposition to the Dems--Dr. Cornel West--is paramount at this time. Energy and time needs to be spent bettering the world, not rehashing Peter Daou's past that he has said repeatedly he has left behind him. This new form of "TDS" only serves the duopoly.
I may as well say it--I do not trust Peter Daou. He was a Christian Lebanese Phalangist allied to Israel some 40 years ago, and has been a Democratic Party apparatchik for most of his career. He worked on both the Kerry and Clinton campaigns, and came up with a lot of hysterical anti-Bernie and then anti-third party nonsense.
Need I add that he worked on LOSING campaigns? He admits advising Hillary not to campaign in the Midwest, and makes his appearance right after West defends NOT attacking Democrats as the Fascists they really are.
There are a lot of ordinary Americans who are finally seeing through the uniparty duopoly, but unless West goes into Trump country with a unifying working class message, I suspect some new sort of Democratic sheepdoggery. Going down to Jackson or Memphis and berating white supremacy is insufficient.
Let's see him go to East Palestine and Youngstown, to West Virginia and Kansas, to Jefferson City and Abilene. Then I'll see commitment to forming a genuine working class political movement with Cornel West's campaign. Until then, not so much.
It was a complete coincidence that I chose Peter's Tweet to write this blog piece--I found it a week or so back, so it was well before the announcement of him becoming Dr. West's campaign manager. Interesting coincidence! Still, I think it's a good example of how "TDS" (or in this case "Peter Daou Derangement Syndrome") is very much evident in our political discussions.
Here are my thoughts on this obsession over Daou: Is all this uproar a symptom of obsessing unduly over one person in Cornel West's campaign? Why isn't he believed to be a sincerely transformed individual? Why isn't his former time working for the DNC not seen as a plus since he understands the opposition better than most life-long Greens? Why do supporters (or so they say they are) of Dr. West unable to trust Dr. West's judgment on this hiring? There does seem to be a lot of undue obsessing over just one hiring decision, which is taking away energy that could be better used by supporters/activists to promote West's candidacy. Who in the long run gains the most from this Daou obsession that takes energy and good will away from the West campaign? The Green Party? The DNC?
That's why, at the end of the day, an obsession isn't healthy or helpful for ANYONE in any situation, Trump or Daou. It's better to take an attitude of "wait and see" and let Peter prove himself in this new role (or not). Otherwise, the obsession just becomes a convenient excuse to drop Cornel West as a candidate--and that's what the Dems want Leftists to do, to walk away from Dr. West, a potential threat to Biden in the 2024 election.
Daou's a political gig worker. He goes from campaign to campaign, from think tank to think tank, and gets paid for it. His main goal is to secure the next contract, not to advance any sort of movement or ideology. As far as I know, he's still a Zionist ally, and certainly no friend of the working class, much less a member.
And I will never trust anyone ever closely associated with the Clintons. I presume them to be corrupt until proven innocent. That's not paranoia or obsession or derangement, that's just self-preservation and basic awareness of material reality.
Or call it a deeply learned reaction to the Democratic sheepdoggery I have experienced and observed for the last 40+ years.

Well said, A J! I guess I need to learn how to edit comments on Substack better.
