Thank you for doing so! Keep it up and keep sharing the truth with others. It's all hands on deck in this battle to reveal what's behind this genocide in Gaza. Power to the people!

This is one of those writings in which I usually pick a quote to emphasize. Problem, and a good one to have: the entire piece is righteous!

And the worst part is that I remember vividly when FREAKIN’ 1988 was considered the, uh, most important election year. This is all old - as old as Project 1492. What we need is a new people’s democracy.

And your articles are part of the required reading for it.

Oh, thank you for your flattering words, Angel! I just had to rant when I came across some folks making excuses to vote for the "lesser evil" person again because she wasn't Biden or Trump. It's like they aren't understanding that the duopolists are BOTH fascists and we're already living under what they're told to be afraid of. If it hasn't bothered them until 2024 then they can wait another 40 years and FREE PALESTINE and end the genocide first, IMO.

If the distractions ever fail to keep the population ignorant, guillotines will be built on the steps of the Capitol! Now THAT would be a great use of our taxes!

Yes, I could see that happening. A much better use of our taxes than providing bombs to murder children in Gaza.

Wonderfully written C.A. There are so many people that need to read this and then act on it. If we all do what we can...

Brilliant way of summarizing a long litany of history, sociology, psychology, journalism, and political science. I love the way you write. I can add two points: 1. as a retired fed (peace corps volunteer followed by civil service and foreign service) a number of my friends with whom I shared cubicles back in the day are a bit spun up by the 2025 paper. Glad to know it’s a rehash I will share that info and 2. As a press officer in the foreign service I escorted many a mainstream journalist into the ambassador’s office to be spoon fed talking points that would end up in the print press. Not to mention round tables with a visiting assistant secretary or even secstate. Haha those were ridiculous especially during the Iraq war I mean just idiotic.

Now feeling totally complicit but completely deprogrammed and unbrainwashed after retirement, I live in Caitlin’s world and reality.

I will be forwarding this piece to a good number of family, friends and former colleagues. Thank you.

No, thank YOU, Aleta, for your kind words and, most importantly, coming out of that programming knowing that you can't just leave others behind in their ignorance. We need to clone you a few million times and have you reach out to all the former and current feds and have them come to the same realizations you have. That would go a long way in making the world a better place!

Soon the knife of genocide will turn against us.

To whom shall we call to for help?

Israel?

I'm sad to say that no one will come

We will have to face that storm individually

I see that in my nightmares

It's sad, but it's true. If we cannot help others who are being genocided, then NOBODY will come to help us. They will just stand by and gladly watch us disappear. That's why we have to get our priorities straight NOW.

Yes that's true.

With the bulk of.our population being less intelligent than sheep, many of us won't make it through the storm.

Thank you for this reminder.

Whether Americans vote for a Democratic or Republican candidate, neither Harris or Trump will change the US's policies on Israel. In fact it appears that Trumps property investor, Jewish son-in-law can't wait to take more Saudi money and turn Gaza into a luxury holiday destination for wealthy white people. IMO JILL STEIN is the only person that deserves to be in the Whitehouse but, hardly anyone has heard of her. I wonder why?

Meanwhile the AIPAC lobby will make sure a Pro-Palestine candidate does not get elected. In the same way Israel removed Jeremy Corbyn as the UK's Labour party leader and replaced him with Kier Starmer.

Canada will be facing a similar dilemma come the October 2025 federal election. Pierre Poilievre is already tipped to win but half his Conservative colleages have accepted all-expense paid junkets to the holy land.

You're welcome, Shelley. You're right--neither one of the "duopolists" will make a bit of difference to US foreign or domestic policy. They've taken their AIPAC money and they know what's to be expected of them. But you can tell how terrified these corporate-owned politicians are of candidates like Jill Stein who are pro-peace/pro-worker and anti-genocide. It's a political platform whose time has come!

I sure hope before next year there's someone who can take out Mr. Poilievre from the running. Fingers crossed there will be.

Wonderfully written TRC!

PRIORITIES!

I was watching Sabby Sabs a few weeks ago and she commented, like you, that without voting for Genocide Joe, Orange Man would become POTUS.

“So what?” She said. And reiterated that should said Orange Man become president, we’d still have roofs over our heads (well, most of us), food to eat, water, medical care, transportation and what’s necessary to maintain our lifestyles. Unlike the Gazans , who have NONE of these things. Zero Zip. Zilch.

I want to tell the Amerikkkan people to SHUT THE FUCK UP and live with your choices. This is YOUR OWN GODDAMN FAULT for being brainwashed into thinking that a Third Party is a “wasted vote”.

“Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.”

Expand full comment
author

Exactly! That definition of insanity is truer than ever. Why more Americans can't see that they're being manipulated into the newest version of "But Trump!!!" is a testament to how indoctrinated and brainwashed the majority of Americans are. We've got our work cut out re-educating these folks before it's too late. But as long as they have roofs over their heads and food in their bellies... They're going to be difficult to convince, I fear.

Expand full comment

Yes, TRC, because their only thoughts are for their own welfare. It’s so easy for them to ignore the plights of others.

Excellent rant! I'm mad at how easily distracted so-called "leftists" are by the media circus, too. If they didn't care what Genocide Joe was up to decades ago helping Clarence Thomas get on the Supreme Court, then why should they act shocked and horrified now? Children are being murdered with our tax dollars! RIP Muhammed Bhar. 😢

Expand full comment
author

You pegged it--it's a circus all right, or maybe it's more like a magic show? It's all smoke and mirrors to trick folks into thinking that something else is infinitely more important than the lives and culture of indigenous peoples. But what can be more precious than protecting the lives of innocents? What does that say about ourselves if we can ignore such great suffering?

Expand full comment

But as you say people are easily distracted.

Currently the Dems have had NO primaries-only an authoritarian coronation of Emperor Biden. Now the emperor has no clothes - and the media court jesters and the billionaire “donors” and their political lackeys have moved on to hailing Princess Kamala:

https://www.axios.com/2024/07/23/hakeem-jeffries-kamala-harris-2024-president

Where’s the primary necessary to rank the candidate and reflect the will of the people?

This is a scandal of monumental proportions: the wiping out of democratic mechanisms. In a country of 350 million people, the only candidates are handpicked by the rich and the public has no say at all.

This ain’t no damn democracy. People need to wake up and reject this circus.

Expand full comment
author

Amen! The evidence is plain to see--there's been no primary for Harris and there weren't even substantive ones for Biden this time or the last time out, either--but we're all supposed to believe "democracy has been saved" by the oligarchs? We need to tear down the distractions and get folks to focus on what really matters and stop believing such obvious lies before its too late. But bread and circuses...sigh!

Very timely points, C.A.! We all need such wake-up calls consistently!

Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for your kind words, Raveen. I know I need a wake-up call every now and then, but when people I trust to know what's really important in life completely get caught up in the distractions... Well, I blew my top!

Excellent commentary and challenge to any Americans with an intact soul and remnant of decency.

I especially agree with, "You’re already living in a fascist state that aids and abets genocide. (Last week’s blog demonstrates that the US is a fascist oligarchy, and not a democracy as it advertises. The Princeton Study confirms this.) Why worry about something that’s already happened? You still got your pearls, don’t you? Focus on what you can do and get to work saving lives."

All the "most important election of our lifetime, we gotta save democracy" election crap is just maddening ... and silly. We live in a mockery of democracy with some fancy flags red-white-n'-blue bunting BS and a dreamy screen shot of the Declaration of Independence to give the chattel a sense of normalcy. Fascism is here and the results are predictable if people don't come together and resist soon

Expand full comment
author

I hope this is a "challenge" to those who seem to feel that "Orange Man Bad!" is the all-time more horrible thing that has ever happened to the US. When you look at US history, you'll see there have been even worse presidents than Trump (read up on James Buchanan) and it puts things into perspective. We're still here, most Americans still have got a roof over their heads and food in their bellies. Why are we not prioritizing those whose very lives are being taken from them for the sadistic enjoyment of racist zy 0 nazis? Why aren't we even working to feed and house our own? Resist corporatism!

I think you'll like this quote:

“The citizen is irrelevant. He or she is nothing more than a spectator, allowed to vote and then forgotten once the carnival of elections ends and corporations and their lobbyists get back to the business of ruling.”

From Sheldon Wolin's "Democracy Incorporated: Managed Democracy and the Specter of Inverted Totalitarianism".

I've had this book on my "to-be-read" shelf several years and have to get it read, Chris Hedges cites it a lot. Scroll down through quotes from it here: https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/10135.Sheldon_S_Wolin

And while you’re at it, everyone should refresh their memories or seek out info on the resources the Israelis are motivated to steal -

Oil and gas under Palestine that the Israelis have already illegally accessed. And the long postponed but now shortened by the leveling of Gaza - the Ben Gurion Canal. This after they’ve already stolen water resources.

Very good points to make--it's not just wiping Gaza off the map of civilization that is getting the Izrealhelis excited. They want all the perks of having the land and resources that rightly belong to the indigenous Palestinians. If it's hard to convince others that zy 0 nism is a form of racism, then surely seeing how evil it is to steal others' resources would make them understand that we must prioritize the lives of Palestinians today.
