Good contrast between what should be unimaginable and what we shouldn’t have to imagine because it’s real!

We should be custodians of this world, not its exploiters. Capitalism needs to die, and quickly.

Bingo! We can't keep a corrupt system in place that encourages death and destruction of the planet and its inhabitants. Capitalism is just a form of suicide, IMO. It's time to get rid of the suicidal oligarchs and replace them with a genuine form of democracy with equal rights for both humankind and nature.

Hi Cindy

Reluctant to say this, but that ‘better world” will exist only without the presence of Homo sapiens.

Let the rest of the earth flourish!

Maybe, but then maybe not. When I think about all the people who do good things for the world, such as organic gardeners and farmers, animal shelter workers, healers and doctors, teachers who really enjoy helping their students to learn and grow, etc., then I realize that humans are only a part of the equation, but we're an important part of it. We just have to grow up and take responsibility for our actions and stop the harmful ones such as wars for oil and polluting the water, air, and land. And if homo sapiens weren't here, how would we even know that the earth was "flourishing"?

Imagine how much better the world would be if we all could use are imaginations for positive and productive things... It seems wasteful to use human intelligence on building yet another type of bomb, doesn't it?

It does. Think of humans using their intelligence and working together to clean up the environment. We have the potential for good, so why not use it?

I appreciate your views, but encourage you to re-examine the “climate crisis” situation by listening to silenced scientists and observing weather monitoring equipment that shows “climate” is being manipulated. Imagine a world terrorized by the lie that we are all about to die because nature hates us.

I don't think it's nature that hates us, but our fellow humans can and do hate some of us enough not to care what they're doing to the environment and that puts us all at risk. For example, the state of Ohio allows CAFOs (animal factory farms with 5,000+ heads of cows, pigs, chickens, etc.) to run their livestock's "poop" (for want of a better word) into the streams and rivers that eventually flow into Lake Erie. Once all that poop gets in the lake, it feeds the natural cyano-bacteria (blue-green algae) and poisons the water. (Do a search on the four days without drinking water for the entirety of the Toledo area in 2014.) Cleveland Clinic has even found that people on the east side of the lake are suffering from neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis at a extremely high rate that comes from breathing in cyano-bacteria particles blowing off of Lake Erie. So, who's at fault here--it's human beings not nature who allows this sort of factory farming in the first place. Never think it is the Earth that hates us--it's always just plain ol' selfish people that do the harm in order to make profits. Humans are always at fault.

I believe it is important to recognize that it isn't all, or most, humans who are setting energy policy and profiting off of environmental destruction. It is the same ultra-wealthy, ultra-powerful tiny group of people who, via the media, scienstific and educational systems they control, are trying to shame the rest of the world out of existence, and terrorizing generations of children to believe that they are doomed to die because they are destroying the Earth, making them wish for their own destruction, while spraying geoengineering chemicals on them from CO2-emitting jets. Make it make sense. There is way too much clear evidence of HAARP and geoengineering affecting weather in dangerous and destructive ways for it to be ignored.

I think it's not a big conspiracy, it's just greed that's causing global climate change. The super wealthy aren't that smart. Just look at Trump's lack of intellect. He reads and comprehends at a fourth grade level according to reading specialists. But the wealthy want to continue to burn fossil fuels and that pollution over the past 300 years worldwide has caused a lot of damage to the environment. The only "conspiracy" is the myth of capitalism.

If you seriously believe that someone with that educational level and low IQ can just become POTUS, there is no point in my engaging in discussion with you.

I don't see why the oligarchy wouldn't want to use a low-level intelligence individual to be their puppet. You have to stop thinking that we actually elect the president--the duopoly is run by the oligarchy, the people with the real power and wealth. They will use the people they think are willing to do the job--and Biden and Trump are both willing to support genocide to make their oligarchic masters wealthier by selling arms.

Thank you. It’s hard sometimes to imagine a better world with all of the shit that’s going on (and will continue to go on) but maybe… just maybe… things don’t have to be like this…

Your article gave me a little bit of hope!

I'm glad it gave you some hope, Poonam. I know I have days when I'm just ready to throw the towel in and give up even trying to make the world a better place, but we can't do that. We owe it to future generations to do what we can do to make sure there is a future for them and our planet.
