And please don't consider me to be a racist because of what I have written. That attitude is what keeps the truth from being brought to the forefront. While the majority of slaves were indeed African not all were. Indentured servants prior to the slave trade were European and subjected to the same conditions. My point is that things in many ways have gotten worse and are rapidly getting still worse. The media concentrates on what has happened rather than what is happening.

Homelessness is now being criminalized in certain states as a felony punishable by up to 20 years incarceration. The cost in Hawaii is $80,000/yr. 3 times what is considered a barely living wage. And elected officials are proposing this without outrage from their constituents? Need I point out what $80,000 a year could provide outside prison? Since prison has been privatized it will be good for the corporations running them. A better solution in my opinion is much cheaper and follows the US constitution. The federal government should provide AR15s and cases of ammunition to the homeless and let them exercise their 2nd amendment rights and the right for peaceful protest for redress of grievances.

Another thing to keep in mind is that we are all capitalists, like it or not. To survive in the system you have to play by the rules of the system. Since the rules of the system are rigged and based on dishonesty and ruthlessness the result is that everyone who plays the game become dishonest and ruthless to greater or lesser degrees. Most would use the word animalistic to define it, but since only humans behave this way, humanistic is a better choice. No other species on the planet to my knowledge enslaves or makes war on its own kind.

Propaganda has resulted in mass insanity.

It has turned moral and ethical beliefs completely upsidedown. Lying is now the norm. Stealing is acceptable for certain individuals. Poisoned food is good for you. Control is for your safety. Invasion of privacy likewise. Laws are made to control, oppress and punish the victim. The criminal justice system is exactly that. A criminal system of injustice, a part of the capitalist system. And like what has happened with corporate mergers, a similar thing is happening to the citizens. Wealth keeps transferring upwards and impoverishing more. It can't continue indefinitely, but where and when will it end?

Your writing is at least as good as Caitlins and in many ways better since you give specific examples to what is happening locally rather than internationally. You should have far more readers than you do.

Slavery exists today but is what I call enhanced slavery. Slavery was never abolished constitutionally and still hasn't been even though an amendment to the constitution would be simple.

Slaves were originally purchased and owned. They were a major cash outlay. While they were not "Free" the owners would not mistreat them as it would be the same as beating their horses or cattle to death. Slaves were at the very least given shelter, food, clothing and medical care. Today none of these are guaranteed.

Todays slave is made to fend for themselves. Call it debt slavery, wage slavery or whatever you like. Corporate America is free from the major cash outlay of purchase and the responsibility of taking care of the slave. Since they are no longer owned "freedom" is the ability to leave whatever corporation owns them and find another corporation which will mistreat them equally. The corporations thus can maximize profits by minimizing the cost of labor which is typically one of the highest overhead costs.

The government supports this because it is in fact a corporation. It in no way supports or defends the citizens of the country. It only supports the wealthy. Minimum wage is a poverty wage which is established by the government and has become the average wage for the majority. It was originally for people who were unskilled just entering the workforce and is now considered a "living" wage.

The flood of immigrants coming across the border are actually welcome by the government as they are cheap labor and will compete/replace Americans in the workforce. This is why the immigration "problem" has not been corrected for the past 50 years. It benefits the wealthy. It actually goes back 100.years as Upton Sinclair wrote in The Jungle. Now "our" government is pushing for a return to the jungle with "reforming" child labor laws. OSHA regulations no longer protect the workers but protect the company as the workers are now the victims of the enforcement. EPA regulations now protect the corporations by making individuals within the company solely responsible for infringements of violations.
