Really important post, as it illustrates the fundamental lard-butt issue with US activism, namely that one's cushy little life shouldn't be disturbed for something happening across the globe, regardless of whether that something is serious enough to merit the self-immolation of a Buddhist monk or a US airforce service member (RIP Aaron Bushnell). The American character, shaped by the forces in the American experience seems anathema to the kind of mobilization that makes me wish I'd made a greater effort to expatriate to Italia 15 years ago. Wake the hell up Americans, creeping fascism done crept under your covers and is biting you in the culo.

This is a fantastic rant C.A. and I'm in total agreement. It seems like only yesterday that considering learning how to make a guillotine seemed a step too far down the activism career-path. Now it seems like a perfectly reasonable and useful skill to learn.
