You didn’t think the US government would only use AI warfare technology on people abroad, did you? We’re back in the Cold War, not the Space Race... Unless we work together to stop it.
We need to shut down the AI Warfare Machine NOW. We can't let it spread and grow like a plague across the planet. We're not suicidal like our so-called government leaders are. They're insane for putting their personal profits above the health and safety of others. Or perhaps they're just evil. Either way lock them up!!
I grew up well after the space race, but I find that it was a really fascinating and compelling drive towards human progress, discovery and exploration that I think has sadly been long forgotten. Well written as always, CA.
The autonomization of war and manufacturing of seemingly endless conflict for profit is abhorrent and unconscionable. The use of AI in warfare and surveillance is disturbing, to say the least. And it is as you said, what would be "tested" abroad in terms of technology would eventually be turned against those at home, and anyone deemed to be an "enemy".
Whew. This is full of good stuff--horrifying but good to note. There is just one tiny blooper, half a sentence, about the merger or US and Israeli militaries leading to "Israel essentially becoming the 51st state." How dare you? Israel, having the same status and power as say Idaho or Arkansas? Not hardly. They intend to be the boss of the arrangement. The whole reason for this proposal is that Israel is threatened by the increasingly negative view of it by increasingly large majorities of Americans. There is a threat that someday this could lead to a termination of US "aid" to Israel, or a US president refusing to go to war on behalf of Israel. But if our militaries and intelligence services are merged, they can just take what they want at will.
Here I'm committing the verbal sin I've sometimes complained about, referring to countries as though they were people...it's more accurate to say "some powerful people and corporations headquartered in..."
