Thanks for writing about truthful history. It’s amazing how much history we haven’t been taught and it is left up to our own devices to uncover real facts. Several years ago I embarked upon genealogical research and I uncovered the often times unsavory stories about my ancestors. Like most people of Mexican ancestry, I’m ethnically mixed with the largest share being indigenous of the Americas and Iberian (Spanish, Portuguese, Basque). Before my research I had the naive notion that because my grandparents were poor that the Spanish side of my ancestors were poor peasants who were sent by Spain to settle the new territory. NOT! Some of them were the original Conquistadors who took away land from the natives. Some of these ancestors were wealthy and slaveowners as well. Of course some of my ancestors were also slaves and the worker bee Indios. After uncovering ancestral information at the beginning of my research, I wondered if I really wanted to continue. Being a curious person, I decided to pursue the path of digging up family facts. It has forced me to learn history in more depth and to learn how those who came before me fit into the historical panorama. Like many aspects of life, our family history and our nation’s history is a mixed bag!
The history of the US is a mixed, bag all right! There's some good in there--people like Jonas Salk, for example, who discovered the vaccine for polio and gave the rights to manufacture it away for FREE. To think of all the millions of lives worldwide he saved through his genius and generosity... That's great you've found out more about your ancestors, how they came to be here. I think we all need to know more about where we came from so we can gain insights into where we are going (or shouldn't be going) in the future. Unfortunately, some Americans seem to think ignorance is bliss when it comes to learning more about our history.
Then maybe people who are so against immigrants would see how much they contribute and how grateful and respectful Americans should be, Trump and Musk notwithstanding, of course! I hope you and others like you can make this strike happen!!!
An excellent article! Thanks for sharing this. There’s so many parallels between the US’s own atrocities/colonialism/imperialism and Zionism. Hopefully, more and more people will wake up to this in the future!
You chose a couple of examples of previous US genocide and tyranny, but there are plenty more, and People's History is a good place to find them. Maybe also check out Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, for a look at the roots of all this ugliness.
Thanks for the reading suggestion. I've been educating myself and reading a lot of material that I had only skimmed over before. I'll definitely look for a copy.
Wonderful article, especially calling for people to DO something. To call out and resist the fascist putsch. It's clear our government and both political parties have been bought and occupied by Zionist extremists and corporate big money. Any pretense of government "by and for the people" is dead and torched. It is time for resistance to the brutal oppression being forced on so many.
Here is a post I recently did on Gene Sharp's handbook of resistance: "From Dictatorship To Democracy" that people will find helpful. As I note in the post, download and print out physical copies, do not just rely on electronic records.
Thanks for the link to Gene Sharp's handbook. It isn't that large a book, so it doesn't take that many sheets of paper. I think at this point in the game many Americans have figured out that the "by and for the people" just means "by and for the billionaires." Muskrat is making that quite obvious by his actions. He's practically playing into our hands! But we've got to not sit back and take a wait-and-see position. Our history shows us clearly what WILL happen if we don't take action, sooner and not later. It's time to walk the billionaires along their own "Trail of Tears".
Someone should tell this to the arab rulers of the gulf kingdoms. They apparently dont understand that they will be upended and hung and quartered, if the zionists manage to destroy the palestinian-Yemeni-Iranian axists of resistance. Because at that point, there is no use for them and they are sitting on oil that the zionists want.
You've got to wonder if the Gulf rulers don't already see the writing on the wall. If you let the US (and the entire West) take up the Israelis' cause to absorb most of the Arabian Peninsula into their sphere of influence, then your country doesn't stand a chance of coming out of that conflict intact. Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it alas.
with the level of debauchery that these gulf oligarchs go to Europe and the US to engage in, one can only imagine what Mossad, CIA etc have on them. They pretend to be pious muslims and guardians of the prophet's holy places, but abroad in secret they do quite the opposite. All the men go and do this, entire families. They must have dirty laundry on an unbeleiveable level that would compromise their credibility back home.
Those who have flown on the Lolita Express and/or visited Epstein's Island and the like seemingly have been staying on the good side with the zy0nists... I believe plentiful blackmail photos/videos and just pure greed have entrapped a lot of politicians/rulers/celebrities into cooperating with Israel. When that country collapses (and I think it will sooner not later), we're going to learn some horrible secrets about these people.
Thanks! So true about learning from history. How about this for a quote: "We must learn from the mistakes of the past, not relish and make new and improved ones." --Ohio Barbarian

Let's make history! Let's make a real democracy for the first time!
There's always a first time, isn't there? ;-)
Just imagine the impact if every Mexican, Central and South American immigrant went on a general strike for one day!
Great idea!
Phenomenal! We need to organize this and do it soon.

Thank you for your kind words. Let's hope more and more are waking up. We can't afford to be asleep much longer.

Totally agree!
Excellent article.
Thank you, Jodi.
"Some wealthy Cherokee were even slave owners."

The thing is, maybe they are simply compromised.

Because otherwise it makes no sense.

Superb. The whole point of learning history is to learn from the mistakes of the past, not to relish in making new and improved ones.
