A well written comprehensive summary of the GP ANM! you captured the essence of the message of the GP members & featured speakerswho helped me feel more connected again to the GP. I hope other state chapters will post this on their Basecamps, which is a start until we can have monthly national Zoom meetings to connect with each other! Also I think you should consider posting it on U4P exchange North America!

Sounds like an exciting, invigorating and hopeful conference! I hope the Green Party stays truer to its mission, objectives and integrity much better in the US than the German Green Party that, once they got into power, betrayed everything they once stood for! The Greens aren't doing too well in Canada, nor is the NDP. The whole electoral system needs to go, along with capitalism, militarism, elitism and fascism, but I guess every little crack in the wall helps!
I like that analogy of the “little crack in the wall.” I think that’s the best electoral politics can do in the fascist world we currently live in. But little cracks will expand and grow and exert pressure over time until even the biggest brick wall collapses. I’m confident that the GP US will stay the course and stay true to its principles of People Planet and Peace. The wall will collapse, taking down capitalism, militarism, elitism and fascism. We just gotta keep the faith and keep fighting!
The Green Party, USA sounds quite fine. Sadly, the Green Party in Canada has some work to do. There is one young candidate in BC who is really forward thinking, anti war, pro Palestine and who seems to see the hypocrisy around her. Unfortunately, the Greens in Canada have been headed up for way too long by Elizabeth May who has in the past sucked up to the likes of Stephen Harper and others with power.
That is the temptation--once sitting in the "seats of power" will you compromise your values to get along with the other power brokers? I'm hoping that young candidate in BC stays strong in her principles. The GP in Canada can turn it around and be the party of the People, Planet and Peace again. I have faith that they will--much more than other corporate owned parties will ever do so.
Been Green since Bernie in 16, when I canvassed for Jill back then. Ten years. And unfortunately, the gut-level anger that your report can't help but raise in me is a fury against the Dems for every bloody dirty trick they continue to use to sabotage Green candidates. These past 10 years have only shown me that there is no end to my hatred of the Democratic party. With few exceptions, a cadre of disgusting hypocrites.
Same here--I joined Jill's campaign in 2016 after Bernie left us all behind to support Shillery. I share the same feelings about the "dirty Dems". It's infuriating how they force Greens and other alternative parties to spend lots of time and money just trying to get our candidates on the ballot. And the Dems' nasty lies and smears of our candidates? Aaaagghhh!! But they say the best revenge is not giving up or giving in to your enemies' uncalled for tactics. Greens continue to stand tall, stand on principle, and never throw in the towel. We will win if we never forget what's important--People, Planet and Peace.
It's encouraging to see that 40 years on the Green Party US is still going strong, giving Americans an option on the ballot. Considering how much money the corporate parties take and put into their promotion, it's doubly amazing how well the Greens do in elections. The common people have the power -- they just have to believe they have power and use it!
Voting Green is a great option--and it takes a lot of energy and talent to keep Greens on the ballot in most states. The stats on how successful Green candidates have been running for office are amazing considering the amount of trickery and legal shenanigans the uniparty pulls on Green candidates to kick them off and discourage them. Jill is great, isn't she? (I don't think she'll run again. I guess she's entitled to her retirement.)
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it's Butch Ware who runs for president. His campaign for California governor has been very inspirational. He really connects with the people.

I thought it absurd to suggest--to yourself--posting lots of pictures of this event, rather than highlights from the workshops--but then it really struck me, looking at those pictures, how DIFFERENT this gathering looked. Not just because there were so many POC but because everyone dressed like I do, not a suit and tie in sight, and the women's face were free of make-up--seems like every time I participate in a Zoom call or webinar, the moderators and speakers are mostly young women and they're heavily made up and they all engage in eyebrow abuse. Very refreshing to see people who don't bother with all that crap!
I will share some of the things I learned this past weekend in future posts. I wanted to do them justice, which in my exhausted state isn't really possible. But you're right about the photos--they show that the GP US isn't a "lily white" party full of wealthy CEOs. It's made up of everyday people of all colors, sizes, ages, gender identities, abilities... And you're free to be yourself in the Green Party because there's no need to "sell" yourself (or your soul) to be a member. You just have to care about the planet and its people and want to live in peace and justice for all.
I wonder if there's a connection between "well you have to wear a suit and tie (or female equivalent) because that's the norm--no one will take you seriously if you don't" and "well you have to go along with the Gaza genocide/data center buildout/ hunting of immigrants because it's just in the bag, save your energy for a fight you can win."
Keep growing the Green Party! It's time American voters had more alternatives than Fascist Team Blue and Fascist Team Red on the ballot.

Greens are authentic and don't need all that false paint to hide what they're really like. They're happy to be themselves. Refreshing!
