Life as we know it could be wiped out if one or more nuclear powers decide to launch their nuclear weapons. This knowledge should keep us awake nights. It doesn't. Why?
Do we really want peace? Good question. Ask the capitalist system that. If it could talk (or maybe it can, if you count AI chat bots), and it was honest, it would say that market capitalism is structurally incapable of managing a peaceful world. There will be no peace until the 99% have strong enough parallel institutions - based on cooperative commons and robust mutual aid networks with time-bank usage increasing requiring less money from each person to access the abundance of the commons – to overtake the last remaining capitalist parasites and their institutions down, including the military industrial complex, Wall St., Big Oil and any other vested interests that need to lose power because the people took it back and they aren’t looking back anymore, they are empowered and rapidly building the new world that they now know how to control, together.

Peace can’t happen without all of us working together to take out the capitalist system that thrives on constant war. As we build parallel institutions, we tear down the war machine—hopefully never to be built again.
Absolutely. If we build it right, step by step, we will create a peaceful system beyond capitalism that no tyrant or small group of sociopaths can ever take over again, because the people power will be so strongly based on trust and direct democracy in the communities, there will be few remaining hierarchical power structures that can resist the collective will of the people and what we are doing – and money will become less powerful over our access to basic needs, rendering the capitalist war machine quickly dry on the power it ran on for so long: poverty creating desperate people willing to become soldiers of the war machine.
We're back to the crappy days of the early Cold War, when the NATO militaries talked of tossing nukes around like confetti. The atomic bombs dropped on Japan look like firecrackers compared with the hydrogen bombs that came later. Russia has its 'Satan' bomb, capable of leveling a continent. Could it be the Powers that Be's solution to global warming is a nuclear winter?
I certainly hope not! It seems that no one in power has taken basic chemistry or physics and learned that radiation is real and it lasts for hundreds of thousands of years--not days. Totally selfish idiots!
This is what happens when you keep voting for the lesser of two evils. You get a government that is permanently on a war footing and finds any hint of peace breaking out a threat to its existence. If we want peace, we must take out all the warmongers in power and abolish nuclear weapons and power plants everywhere forever.
Evil is evil, whether or not it’s called “lesser” or not. More voters are catching on to this corrupt duopoly system in the US and perhaps understanding now that the duopoly supports the War Power over the people’s health and safety. Time to put the 99% first!
A valid question, do we want peace? It's a difficult task, peacemaking. Westerners are selfish and don't want to risk living a slightly less affluent life. But if we really care about our planet and our children, we won't shy away from the challenge.
There does seem to be an “attitude problem” in the West. Too much “superiority complex” going on. Iran is helping take the US down a notch, which can only be of help in building Peace Power.
