AI Is Not Your Friend...

AI Is Not Your Friend (In a Capitalist Society)

It’s pretty obvious that I don’t use AI to write my posts online. I wouldn’t make so many typos and mistakes in grammar/punctuation if I did use an AI computer program. I like to write the old-fashioned way on a pad of paper with a pen or on a laptop running Linux without all the bells and whistles. It just feels more natural that way, not forced, with no artificial intelligence trying to change my words mid-sentence.
I know what I want to say and how to say it. I don’t need an AI to tell me how to think.
I’m not anti-technology (despite my advanced years). In fact, I was one of the first persons to actually own a “PC” or personal computer back in the dark ages of forty-plus years ago. I worked in a government office during that time when our case documentation was being transferred over from pen and paper to computer documents. I’ve even written code for web sites and done other computer-related things over the years. So, you can’t say that I’m adverse to artificial intelligence out of a superstitious belief that all technology is evil and should be stopped.
I don’t believe it’s the technology that’s evil. It’s the people who are using it in negative ways and exploiting it that are doing evil. (Pope Leo agrees with me.)
AI data centers are breaking out like pimples across the face of America. This demonstrates to me that artificial intelligence isn’t going to be used for the public good because these data centers are being rammed down the throats of small town and big city people alike, against their will. These AI data centers aren’t there to help the locals, but to make tech bros even richer.
Simply put, AI is not your friend—especially if you’re not a billionaire. Don’t believe me? Would you believe economists from the prestigious Wharton School of Economics?
The paper is called “The AI Layoff Trap.” Published March 2, 2026. Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Boston University. Peer reviewed. Mathematically modeled. The conclusion is one sentence:
“At the limit, firms automate their way to boundless productivity and zero demand.”
An economy that produces everything. And sells it to nobody.
Here is how you get there. A company fires 500 workers and replaces them with AI. A competitor fires 700 to keep up. Another fires 1,000. Every company is behaving rationally. Every company is following the incentives correctly. And every company is building a trap for itself.
Because the workers who were fired were also customers. When they lose their jobs faster than the economy can absorb them, they stop spending. Consumer demand falls. Companies respond by cutting costs — which means automating more workers — which means less spending — which means more falling demand — which means more automation.
The loop has no natural exit.
The researchers tested every proposed solution. Universal basic income. Capital income taxes. Worker equity participation. Upskilling programs. Corporate coordination agreements. Every single one failed in the model. -- from @JackCoder on X
Are you a billionaire? I thought not. Therefore, it’s to your advantage to organize with other non-super wealthy working people and make double-sure that your rights—and your very lives—aren’t being trampled on.
It’s what they’re doing in Michigan. They started a class action case against a data center that makes a constant racket which has destroyed community members’ health and the resale value of their homes. It’s what they’ve done in Andover, New Jersey and La Pine, Oregon by organizing and stopping a data center from being built in their towns.
Alas, that’s not what’s happened in Virginia. A Virginia AI data center is releasing toxic water treatment chemical emissions equivalent to 10,000 diesel generators into the atmosphere there. Can you imagine the air quality for the local populace? Even folks who don’t suffer from asthma would experience breathing problems. No doubt about it, AI data centers can be a direct threat to human health.
Of course, the current US government is all for building more and more data centers. The US already has 5,581 data centers and leads the rest of the world by a wide margin. (China only has 449.) There is talk of federal legislation that would forbid both the states and local municipalities from preventing a data center being built in their state/city/county and prevent the owners from being sued for the environmental damages they cause.
And copyright infringement by AI corporations stealing our words that have been published online? This is the current administration’s opinion on writers like me losing royalties and revenue because AI programs “borrowed” some of our work without our permission: Pffft!!!
If we the workers haven’t already been starved to death because we lost our livelihoods to AI, I’m sure all those warehouse detention centers bought with ICE’s humongous budget can lock up those of us who take to crime in order to feed our families. Some have even said that crematoriums are to be built alongside these “concentration camps”. A clever way of ending anti-AI sentiment, eh?
What? You thought it was only “illegal aliens” would get this sort of treatment in the US? Let me ask you this: Why would our billionaire rulers discriminate? Working slobs are all alike to them—no matter what our color is or what country we came from. If we ain’t making the billionaires happy by spending money we don’t have to buy their overpriced products, why would they care what happened to us?
This insane push to build even more AI data centers could destroy our economy and kill millions of Americans. What kind of sociopath would think this is a good idea? Hmm… perhaps the Orange-Idiot-In-Charge and his Evil-Epstein-File Friends have made some big inside-trader investment deals in AI data centers and can’t wait to cash in when the market collapses? If other countries are able to get by with far fewer AI data centers, then maybe this has been the true purpose behind building more of them in the US all along.
And here you thought the “Dot Com” crash was bad! Some experts see the upcoming AI bubble burst topping it a thousand-fold. I sure hope the tech bro billionaires don’t suffer much—not!
So, why do the ruling elites want to risk poisoning our water, air, and land for AI technology that ultimately only benefits them? Is it just another Malthusian set-up to rid the world of the poor, the elderly and disabled—to rid the world of extra workers and those the capitalists don’t give a shit about? You have to admit that it is an inventive way of whittling down the population. Hitler would be proud. The Nazis had to make use of analog methods such as gas chambers and firing squads and their task took years. But look at Gaza: genocide aided by AI and drones can happen in less than three.
Is it a uniquely American billionaire-oligarch desire to eliminate as many of us peons as possible so they can steal our land and then take our resources for themselves? Maybe not, but it’s not like the US doesn’t have a history of rich white males doing just that. Isn’t this what happened to the Native Americans? Wasn’t shipping enslaved Africans to do all the white folks’ drudge work until the Africans dropped over not a part of the elites’ plan to become super-wealthy?
No doubt in my mind that American workers are to be “used, abused and losed” in order to make the capitalists wealthier. Our billionaire rulers apparently can’t wait for us to get out of their way so they have more room to blow up their rockets and go to their hotel in space. Don’t you feel special?
I’ll admit AI has positive uses. I enjoy the AI-generated Lego videos that are spreading the anti-war message far and wide. (See my link collection here.) But do we really need to build more data centers to use AI creatively than those we have now? And who can we trust to regulate its use?
Even now AI is being used in a more sinister way by warmongers creating atrocity propaganda about Iran. AI creations that are clearly animations such as the Lego videos are one thing, but using the photographic images of real people and trying to fool others into thinking that they are those same people expressing propagandists’ ideas is quite another. A propaganda film currently doing the film festival circuit is trying to convince Westerners that Iranians actually want to be bombed by the US and Israel. We’re supposed to believe that they want to be murdered! Hitler would be super jealous.
Hollywood producers are even now drooling over resurrecting dead movie stars from its golden age, such as Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, via AI. AI-generated “actors” such as “Tilly Norwood” would look and sound just like the real thing. Billionaire film producers wouldn’t have to hire (and pay) human actors or crew members ever again. Because it’s not like movie workers have to have a paycheck in order to eat, right?
I read about an AI program that can diagnose pancreatic cancer earlier than human doctors can, giving some a fighting chance of beating it. I just wish my mom had this opportunity fourteen years ago when she was diagnosed, since pancreatic cancer for most is caught too late. This is definitely something AI should be used for—curing people.
But do we need another thousand AI data centers to do so, especially in the US where there is no universal health care? Who would benefit from these wonderful AI programs to diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer? Can you say, “Only the billionaires with really good private health insurance”?
I believe most working class Americans know what’s behind this AI data center push. It’s not being done with our needs in mind. The most obvious use of an AI data center built in your backyard would be to keep tabs on you, not cure you. Millions of Flock cameras and drones collecting data on us, along with their related AI computer programs listening in on our telephone conversations and collecting data from our computing devices, would definitely drive the need to build more data centers to process all that raw data. It just makes sense.
You shouldn’t worry about these AI programs and data centers watching us because you’d never break the law, even if you and yours were starving and you had no job, right? But how can you be so sure you wouldn’t accidentally break the law at some point? Some of you could be pulled over today and be convicted of driving while black or brown or red or… Never say never.
Look at ICE’s recent tactics. They’ve been tracking and abducting thousands of immigrants, haven’t they? It takes a lot of computer power tracking down where people work or live, or could possibly work or live. It takes a lot of AI power to handle so many requests for information on where to find non-Americans. Add thousands of new AI data centers to the mix, and ICE would be able to track down and spy on both immigrants and American citizens alike—eliminating them at will.
And here you thought that “Lavender” and “Where’s Daddy?”, the AI programs that Israeli forces use to murder civilians in occupied Palestine, were pure evil. They would never use those in America, right? Here you thought that an AI program telling the US to bomb a girl’s school in Iran was horrific. That could never happen here, but you’re wrong. We haven’t seen the worse of it yet, I fear.
AI technology and data centers need to be put on the shelf in the US until everyone—and I mean everyone, rich and poor alike, citizen and immigrant alike—can benefit from its positive uses and not suffer adversely from its destructive ones. It’s not an extremist position to want to stay alive and make sure other human beings stay alive, too.
Humanity has thrived for many millennia on this planet without AI. There’s no rush to jeopardize our future now, is there?

Immigration Vigil Held at CCNO
A vigil was held on May 30, 2026, at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio to call attention to those imprisoned there for simply searching for a better life in Ohio.
CCNO receives $117 per bed/per night from ICE and has made over $3 million since last April. Please email CCNO at CCNORegional@gmail.com and demand independent oversight for detainees, an immigrant detainee ombudsman to make sure their rights aren’t being denied, for an end to ICE bed agreements, and to oppose local ICE collaboration and 287 (g) expansion.
Tell Ohio lawmakers to oppose H.B. 200, which aims to expand cooperation between local agencies and ICE. Push your federal representatives to support pathways to legalization and humane immigration reform. Together we can stop ICE’s reign of terror.

Anything that is being forced upon the workers is probably not going to of benefit to the workers. Didn't Xi in China pass a measure saying that no AI firm can layoff workers without penalty? I wonder if Western powers would do likewise to protect it's consumers so it doesn't spiral out of control like that Wharton School paper points out.
The environmental impacts of these data centres are horrendous. And in a predatory economy like what we have here in the west, AI isn't benefitting society.
